Direct chill casting of aluminium alloys under electromagnetic interaction by permanent magnet assembly

2018

Direct chill casting is one of the methods used in industry to obtain good microstructure and properties of aluminium alloys. Nevertheless, for some alloys grain structure is not optimal. In this study, we offer the use of electromagnetic interaction to modify melt convection near the solidification interface. Solidification under various electromagnetic interactions has been widely studied, but usually at low solidification velocity and high thermal gradient. This type of interaction may succeed fragmentation of dendrite arms and transport of solidification nuclei thus leading to improved material structure and properties. Realization of experimental small-scale crystallizer and electromag…

Influence on the macrosegregation of binary metallic alloys by thermoelectromagnetic convection and electromagnetic stirring combination

2014

International audience; Influence of a slowly rotating 0.5 T transverse magnetic field on the directionally solidified metallic alloy has been experimentally studied in this work. Main idea is to study an influence on the melt flow and material structure caused by the simultaneous electromagnetic stirring and thermoelectromagnetic convection with comparable magnitudes. Electromagnetic stirring and thermoelectromagnetic convection intensities have been estimated analytically to find optimal experimental parameters. It is experimentally demonstrated that with such an interaction it is possible to modify component macrosegregation of Sn-10 wt% Pb alloy. Helical macrosegregation within cylindri…

Computational study of the influence of oxygen vacancies on the polarization in irradiated and annealed PLZT ceramics

2002

A physical model for the oxygen defect evolution in PLZT ceramics under neutron irradiation and annealing is proposed. The influence of the defect system on the polarization of these materials has been investigated. The influence of the La content on the material structure and the oxygen defects has been taken into account. Satisfactory agreement between the theoretically estimated oxygen defect concentration after irradiation and annealing and the experimentally determined polarization has been obtained.

Binds of Professionalism: Attachment in Australian and Finnish Early Years Policy

2016

Attachment theory is often referenced in psychology, social work and early childhood care and education, and is ubiquitous in popular publications directed to parents, carers and educators of young children. It is considered as a ‘grand theory’ that explains “the growth of social relationships from infants’ experiences with their caregivers and the consequent social preference called attachment” (Mercer, 2011, p. 26). In this chapter, we understand attachment theory as a discourse and as part of the ‘psy-complex’, “the sprawling speculative and regulative network of theories and practices that constitute psychology” (Parker, 2002, p. 199). We focus on the operation of ‘attachment discourses…
